Auburn Cemetery Stone Niche Wall

Even better news now, at the Auburn Cemetery, the Stone Niche Wall has been completed. thank you to the two skilled stonemasons Brian Monk and Jamie Somerville. they have done a fine job. Residents and others who wish to have their loved ones lodged in the wall should contact Kathy Alty at the CGVC on 88426400. Kathy is the Council’s Officer responsible for the business relating to public cemeteries.

 

Auburn Cemetery desecration

As people may know, the restoration work on the damaged headstones in the Auburn Cemetery is in the hands of the CGVC. All inquiries should be directed to the CGVC. Funds for repairs are available from the CGVC.

ACDC Website

ACDC is seeking a local person who has appropriate skills, to assist with the management of the ACDC website on a volunteer basis. this role may suit a student with IT interests. Please phone 8492389 for more information.

ACDC Australia Day Awards

The nominations are open now for the ACDC Australia Day Awards, which are presented at our local event in Centenary Park on Australia Day. Di you know someone in our community who has contributed their time and efforts to a local cause or organisation? you could nominate them for consideration of the ACDC Australia Day Award. Nomination forms are available at the Auburn Post Office, or by phoning 88492389. Nomination close 8th December, 2017.

Next ACDC meeting

ACDC’s next meeting will be an Open Meeting, on Tuesday 10th April, 2018 at 7.30pm at the RSL Hall Auburn. Please come along for an update on the Rec Park,  the Institute, Auburn Cemetery and Dan Moss speaking about his new business at Terrior. Please bring along your neighbour or any new comer to Auburn you have recently met.

Thank you to Clare Gilbert Valleys Council

The Auburn community wishes to thank the Clare Gilbert Valleys Council for the placing of two ‘doggie bag’ dispensers in our local area. One has been installed in Centenary Park on the exterior wall of the Park Shelter, and another has been installed on the Riesling Trail at its entrance to Auburn. These bags are a great public asset, so when you are walking your dog, please use these bags to maintain the safety and comfort of fellow walkers/bike riders.

Southern Gateway Project:

Graham Richards and the sub-committee held their first meeting in early September. the subcommittee will meet bi-monthly with their next meeting being held in early November. their discussions and plans are developing.

Auburn Traders and the Planter Pot Mosaics.

The Auburn Traders were successful in October 2017, receiving a Community Asset Grant of $3,000, from the CGVC. these funds will be used to complete the Mosaic project including a plaque for each artwork and a brochure to explain how the artwork represents Auburn.

In the near future there will be a working bee to finish the last 6 mosaic artworks, as well as a bbq to thank all volunteers who will have worked on this project.

Some of the plants have not survived this summer, and these willbe replaced by Auburn Traders.

CGVC Community Asset Grants

The CGVC has made available the opportunity for community groups to apply for grants for projects within their area. the closing date for the Draft submission is Friday 6th October. if you have a project in mind for your group, please contact the CGVC on 88426400 for further information and the application form.
